Little Seeds of Contemplation
In the evening of life I shall be judged by Love.
St. John of the Cross
Persevere and stand firm on the solid base of the faith.
Never let yourselves drift away from the hope promised by the Good News,
which you have heard, which has been preached to every created thing under Heaven.
Col 1: 23
I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming
conviction that I had absolutely no other place to go.
The guarantee of one's prayer is not in saying a lot of words.
The guarantee of one's petition is very easy to know.
How do I treat the poor?
Because that is where God is.
Archbishop Oscar Romero
You pray in your distress and in your need.
Would that you might pray also in the fullness
of your and in your days of abundance.
A soul flare is what happens when someone shines (his or her)
light no matter what it is.
In a son, a smile, or a well-made soup;
they send out a flare of light that
inspires others shine on their own.
Soul flares make this world better.
In the twilight of life, God will not judge us on
our earthly possession and human success,
but rather on how much we loved.
John of the Cross
I don't know what your destiny will be,
but one thing I know - the only ones among you
who will be really happy are those
who sought and found how to serve.
Though my muscles may stiffen,
though my skin may wrinkle
May I never find myself yawning at life.
No one know what makes the soul wake up so happy.
Maybe a dawn breeze has blown the veil of God away.
Mary’s letting go of her own plan for her life and her acceptance of
God’s will was not a one-time event; letting go rarely is.
It was for Mary, and is for us, a daily affirmation, a daily “YES!” to whatever
God has in store, confident in faith that we too, like Mary,
have a place prepared for us, both in this life and forever, with God.
Authentic freedom is liberation from life's illusions.
Faith is a habit of mind which begins eternal life in us, and induces reasonable assent to things unseen.
St. Thomas Aquinas.
I am at all times the sum of my relationships, and that is what constitutes my identity.
I do not at all understand the mystery of grace ??
only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.
As we journey through each moment, we discover anew that our daily life is our spiritual life.
In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart.
What we plant in the soil of contemplation,
we shall reap in the harvest of action.
The secret of my full identity is hidden in him.
He alone can make me who I am, or rather who I will be when at last I fully begin to be.
But unless I desire this identity and work to find it with Him and in Him, the work will never be done.
Thomas Merton. New Seeds of Contemplation.
