Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
"Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing.
Mary has chosen the better part
and it will not be taken from her."
Jesus loves Martha as much as Mary.
Yet he chastises her not for what she does,
but for how she does it, filled with anxiety and worry.
He invites her to remember why and for whom she labors,
so that she can listen even in her busyness.
Martha welcomed Jesus when he arrived at their home.
We also see in the Gospel how Mary welcomed him – by listening.
How can I welcome Jesus into my daily life and listen more attentively to his word?
