He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1955 and California State University in 1960. He and Barbara Meredith married at Sacred Heart Church, Sacramento, in 1962. They moved into a home which they still occupy. They have three children, Nicholas, Meredith, and Joseph, all of whom attended Immaculate Conception School, and six grandchildren. He worked for the County of Sacramento for 34 years, serving 20 years as the county personnel director. He was ordained a deacon in 1992, and was assigned to this parish. In 1993, he retired from county service. Since then he has served as associate diocesan liaison to the charismatic renewal (1993 – to-date), as diocesan vicar for deacons (1993-99), and as parish steward of this parish (2001-10). Since July 2010 he has returned to more usual role of a deacon; he now assists the parochial administrator with the administration of the parish, along with other ministry duties.
Deacon Jerry started the Charismatic Prayer Group at Immaculate Conception many years ago and along with Barbara, still continues to be a strong spiritual part of it today. He has also been very involved in the R.C.I.A. program over that last few years. He attends both Saturday 5 pm and Sunday 9 am Masses and you will almost always find him at the daily 9 am Mass. Deacon Jerry has for years been the parish steward for the Parish Council meetings and is on the Liturgy committee. His inspiration at Immaculate Conception cannot be measured and is loved by so many here. He has been a strong instrument to the Church's improvements both physically and spiritually. Immaculate Conception Sacramento is blessed to have Deacon Jerry
